Louka's landscapes

Last weekend, Gardening Australia had a segment on how to keep children occupied on miserable winter days: making miniature gardens. Louka was inspired. So on the last day of the school holidays we headed to Bunnings for pots, potting mix and plants, then to our local garden centre for some ornaments. Louka chose colourful flowering plants, and shiny black glass pebbles to set them off. Then she chose a fairy figurine and a silver bird. I suggested the windmills.

Pottery dinosaur

It's school holidays again, and Louka has lots of activities to keep her occupied. Pottery was such a success last holidays that I booked her in for some more. Here's her dinosaur (not yet fired). I think it shows some progress since her last creations.

She also made another pottery figurine. I think it's two dinosaur eggs in a nest under a tree.

Drawing competition

Graham wanted to invite my parents over to sit round his brazier. Louka wanted them to participate in a drawing competition. So we did our drawings while sitting round the fire.

Louka judged Graham the winner, and awarded him the prize: a voucher for fourteen chocolates from the Loukaland shop.

End of term nursery rhymes and fairy tales

For the end of term, the kindy kids had a nursery rhyme and fairy tale dress-up disco. Louka went as Puss in Boots, quite refreshing among all the fairies and princesses of the other girls.

The teachers did a good job too - Louka's teacher was the Knave of Hearts.
