New wheels

I succumbed to my desire for Louka to have a scooter yesterday (I feel every child should have a scooter, probably because I had one). We'd met a mothers' group friend for lunch after Art n Move, then the girls wanted to check out the nearby toy shop (which had been closed for renovations the last few times we'd been there). Louka's little friend soon discovered the shop scooter and was zooming round and round the shop with Louka running after her. It seemed like a good little scooter so I asked Louka if she'd like one. Of course she said yes (she'd been collecting things off the shelves that she "needed") so I bought her a pink one (along with some stickers, colouring books and join-the-dots books).

Today we took it to the park to try out. Louka can't zoom round on it like her friend, but she seemed to enjoy a couple of circuits of the park bike path. I think she might be due for a new helmet though.

Relief at the dentist

Last time we visited the dentist, he had me very worried about the state of Louka's teeth. So I was dreading this visit, in case he said her teeth needed urgent work. However, the stuff he put on them seems to be holding, and the crack across the front teeth doesn't seem to be deteriorating, so no immediate need to do anything. Phew!

Not an African drummer

At playgroup today there was a special session of African drumming. There were drums lined up at the back of the room while the kids sat at the tables eating morning tea. Then the kids moved to the mats laid out by the drums. The presenter arrived in a colourful patchwork outfit and played a few beats on his big drums. Then he asked if anyone would like a go. Louka was quick to get up and play on his drums, but she didn't want to sit quietly and watch anyone else. So she went outside and discovered the sandpit. Oh well, she had her moment of fame and fun.
